Upcoming art show in Pilsen


Z Azylu do Azylu
"From Exile to Exile"

On June 1, 2006, the art gallery AZYL in Pilsen, Czech Republic, will host a show of my drawings and paintings.


The show will include about 20 of my figure drawings and oil paintings.

I left Pilsen 19 years ago, escaping the Communist regime of Czechoslovakia.

This show will be the first exhibition of my work in my home country.

The gallery name is AZYL (Exile - in English), which I found ironic and decided to call the show "Z Azylu do Azylu - From Exile to Exile".

Here is how to get there:
  1. Buy a ticket to Prague, Czech Republic
  2. Drive from Prague to Pilsen on highway "E50" (since there is no speed limit, you'll be there in about 28 minutes)
  3. Since you are in Pilsen, park your car (drinking and driving is not allowed, period) and get some of the finest Czech beer - Pilsner Urquell
  4. Now you are ready, here's the address: Azyl - Galerie a Bar, Veleslavinova 17, Plzen (it is only one block from the main square)

    Hi Jiri, I was googling Cooper alums and found my way to your blog. It is really great seeing the drawings (did you have Gussow?), the documentary, how busy your life is after school. All the best in the future.

    To je docela funny, že jsi pro blbé Američany napsal, v jaké zemi je Praha :-) na druhé straně jsi taky trochu mimo, když si myslíš, že v Česku není na dálnici speed limit - to sis spletl s Bavorskem :-))) Speed limit na dálnici v Česku je asi o něco větší než v USA, ale přece jenom je standardně (není-li uvedeno jinak) 130 km/h.

    Hi Jiří,

    Iam very appreciate your prey helping people they were mure. I have question for you, how style are constructed a skyscrapers? I mean if is the core builded as beam fixed fortress. And did you found your team to someone who survived? And yours feeling.

    "no limits" on E50 means you must obbey max. highway speed limit 130km/h :-)

    Vazeny pane Boudniku, chtel jsem se zeptat, zda se v Cechach bude jeste nekde promitat Vas film Cokolada a kostky cukru - rad bych se na film podival - zajima mne historie a mam rad ruzne pohledy. S pratelskym pozdravem Pepa
